To ensure that our courses are of an academically high quality and address current, critical and e‑learning related issues, we convened an Advisory Panel that provides insights and guidance for the most actionable, practitioner-led program in the industry.

McWeadon Education is currently dialoging with several US universities of prestigious Instructional Design and Technology Masters programs for transfer credit. Similar dialogue will continue  with several overseas universities locating in India and other countries.

 
COURSES AND SCHEDULE 

McWeadon accepts students on a rolling admissions process, which is an advantage for the student.  Acceptance or rejection of a potential student is made when his or her application is complete.  This E-Learning Program consists of Three Courses with the option of Two additional courses if they meet your needs. Course length is 4-6 Weeks depending on the course.  It should be noted that although the courses are arranged into weeks if a student is able to complete the coursework in less time the instructor will work with them to achieve this completion.

    In this course, you will learn how to develop a comprehensive blended e-learning plan for your own hypothetical (or real) learning enterprise. In developing the plan, you will apply the elements of needs assessment, e-learning readiness, strategic planning, financial planning, project management, marketing & promotion, learner support services, staff development, delivery systems, and technology infrastructure.

    In this course, you will learn how to plan, develop, evaluate, and manage a highly effective lesson or a unit of instruction. The course covers various elements of the instructional design (ID) process, including project management, needs assessment, instructional problems, task analysis, learner characteristics, instructional objectives, instructional resources (media selection), content sequencing, instructional strategies, instructional delivery, evaluation instruments, formative evaluation, and summative evaluation.     In this course, you will learn how to develop and deliver self-paced blended e-learning solutions that maximize learning experiences and performance outcomes. You will become familiar with the application of instructional strategies and programmatic interactions to content development and delivery. As part of the course, you will learn how to create accessible and reusable learning objects that are compliant with e‑learning standards so that they are interoperable and shareable across standards-compliant Learning Management Systems (LMS).

    ET604 E‑Learning Program Evaluation 
    In this course, you will learn how to conduct a comprehensive assessment of an organization’s e‑learning programs and courses to determine their effectiveness and return‑on‑investment.  The Comprehensive Approach to Program Evaluation in Open and Distributed Learning (CAPEODL) Model is used in this course that looks at the People, Processes, and Products continuum of e‑learning. This model captures an organization’s inventory of blended e‑learning programs and provides valuable insights into what works and where improvement adjustments are needed.

    ET609 E‑Learning Independent Study
    This course allows you to pursue independent self-study in your own area of interest in blended in e‑learning under the guidance of a faculty member. The course will require a written proposal including a detailed plan of the student activities; a list of the objectives, goals, or intended outcomes; a description of the role of the faculty member; and a detailed evaluation or achievement plan.

To be eligible to take our courses you must be a college graduate.  However, an individual without a college degree may be considered with the approval from a local facilitator.  Our courses are offered in the English language.  Students are required to have English proficiency in order to complete the course.   The course size is 20 students only.  Admissions will occur on a first come, first serve basis.

TECHNOLOGY AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
 

McWeadon is very sensitive to our student’s busy schedules and expenses for course related textbooks, hardware and software. Our course lecture contents are developed by reviewing several books, articles and consultations with experts in the field. This allows us to require economically viable required textbooks and resources. Our Free Library hosts numerous articles and resources for our courses which helps to offset the financial burden off the students. Our instructors are constantly looking for the most updated relevant learning materials and compiling it into the courses.  We are able to reduce textbook costs.

How are the courses structured and How do I access a course?
When you register for a course you will receive a log-in to access the Leaming Management System (LMS). After logging into the LMS you will have access to all you need for the online course including the Syllabus, Instructors, Readings, Lectures, Forums, Assignments, Knowledge Checks, and other resources.  All activities are organized under Units which can be taken from anywhere and at anytime.

Can I participate in Forums on my own time?
Yes, you can participate in forums on your own time.

How do I hand-in assignments?
Within the LMS you are able to upload your assignments. 

What type of interaction will I have with my instructor?
You will be emersed into an interactive learning environment rich with opportunities to discuss issues and receive constructive feedback for improvement from your instructor and facilitator.

What time are courses held?
Courses are taken at anytime. 

Do I need to have Internet connection all the time to do my coursework?
No.  You can download the course materials, readings, etc. onto your computer and work on your computer without Internet Access.  You can complete your writing on your computer and when you are ready simply upload your work into the LMS.   

What are the Technology Requirements?
Courses are offered online which requires students to have access and use of a computer, internet connection, and e-mail. The following hardware and software is provided for your reference.  Our courses are compatible with both PCs and Macs.

Kelee Plagis

Instructor

Dr. Plagis holds a Ph.D. in Education, a Masters in Individualized Studies, and Bachelor of Arts in Speech Mass Communication from George Mason University. Professor Plagis developed and taught traditional and distance learning courses in the Educational Technology Leadership program at The George Washington University (GWU) and at Education and Communication Departments at George Mason University.  Dr. Plagis has work experience, at the executive level of several corporations, in the areas of Distance Learning, Instructional Design, Computer Based Training, Interactive Multimedia Instruction/Production, e-learning, electronic performance support, organizational strategic decision making, and decision modeling.  Dr. Plagis has developed award winning multimedia computer-based training.  She advises industry and governments on instructional design, distance learning, and ADL initiatives.

Dr. Khan holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology and Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Indiana University, Bloomington.  Dr. Khan served as the founder of the Educational Technology Leadership program at The George Washington University (GWU) and the Educational Technology graduate program at the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB).  He also served as an instructional developer and evaluation specialist for the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine.  Professor Khan taught instructional technology courses at GWU, UTB and IU. He is an internationally recognized authority on e-learning and educational technology.

Lauri Cataldo

Instructor 

Dr. Cataldo holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Masters in Educational Technology Leadership from the George Washington University, a Masters in Business Management from National Louis University, a Baccalaureate in Business Management from National Louis University, and a Diploma in Nursing from Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing (now MetroWest Medical Center). Professor Cataldo teaches business and leadership courses to adult learners at National Louis University and other teaching institutions. She is experienced in curriculum development and program design for both in-classroom and online environments. Dr. Cataldo is a nurse, speaker, and educator. She holds extensive medical skill as a clinician in the emergency room and operating room healthcare arenas, leadership and technical expertise as a systems administrator, and consultant experience as a medical advisor

Alice Bedard-Voorhees

Dr. Alice Bedard-Voorhees received a B.A. in American Studies from Moorhead State University (MN), an M.A. in English (Creative Writing) from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in Distance Education from Capella University. Dr. Alice Bedard-Voorhees has served the development of instruction and assessment of learning at Western Governors University and Colorado Community Colleges Online. Her most recent writing collaboration examines the pedagogy and Web 2.0 tools . She is working to develop learning exploration through a Second Life Colorado Mountain College condo and currently applying Badrul Khan’s Flexible Learning Model to the Second Life learning environment.

Dr. Ealy holds a Doctor of Education in Technology Education from West Virginia University, a Master’s degree in Safety Management from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Wheeling Jesuit University. Dr. Ealy has built an open-source SCORM-certified learning management system (LMS) that was purchased by DaimlerChrsyler and lead the design, development and implementation effort of an enterprise-level SCORM-conformant learning content management (LCMS) which is currently being used at DaimlerChrysler. Dr. Ealy is currently working for his own company, David Ealy Technologies, and has recently worked on training and/or elearning projects for IBM, VW, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), The Department of Homeland Security, Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, Department of State and the U.S. Courts. Dr. Ealy taught graduate level courses at The George Washington University.

Mauri Collins

Dr. Mauri Collins earned her Ed. D. from the The 
Pennsylvania State University, with major in Adult Education, a minor in Instructional Systems, and a certificate in the Study of Distance Education, studying with Dr. Michael Moore. She also earned a BA and an MA in Sociology, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. University of Nevada Las Vegas, 1987. The title of her dissertation is "Invisible adult educators: Online public discussion group moderators'perceptions of their roles task and responsibilities."  Dr. Marie (Mauri) Collins has 15 years experience in faculty development and 
support, and is currently serving as an Instructional Designer and online faculty development specialist at the Office of Distance Education, University of Nevada Las Vegas. In this capacity Dr. Collins works with faculty preparing to teach online.

Mr. Nakashima holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business of University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science from Yale University.As a former Vice President and CIO of a large, publicly traded corporation, Mr. Nakashima is an experienced executive, manager, and leader with a record of proven business leadership, technology advocacy, systems development, and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. He has effectively managed large organizations and is an experienced instructor,  trainer and facilitator with over 20 years experience managing, leading, and training others. Mr. Nakashima completed the Executive Program for Leadership for Extraordinary Performance, Out-of-the-box Thinking at the University of Virginia.
